Project Based Learning
Project-based learning challenges students to learn through ‘real world’ problem solving scenarios by letting them investigate the possible outcomes of an experiment while working as a team, or as an individual, promoting a sense of independent learning that cannot be found in a traditional lecture format. Throughout project-based learning, teachers assist discussion and exploration, but do not monopolize learning. Students are driven to find answers and solutions to problems through hands-on learning and questioning. Doing so gives students confidence to know that they can continue their education independently once left “in the real world.”

Sustaining Strong Values
Our goal at Boston Avenue is to produce healthy students who are confident in their ability to learn independently, as well as, in larger group settings. We do this by focusing on teaching proper etiquette in a variety of situations and environments, making clear the importance of solving problems in a civil manner, and offering a plethora of clubs and afterschool activities.

Growing a Green School
Growing a green school means that we are doing everything we can to promote a healthy lifestyle that coincides with a harmonious relationship between our school and the environment around us. Children learn to grow different fruits and vegetables, flowers, build birdhouses, and parents never have to worry about their children going home without receiving a nutritious meal.

Cultivating Community Partnership
The reason we are educating our children is so that they can grow into productive, healthy citizens of our community. This is why we create city-wide partnerships by introducing students to their neighborhoods and getting them involved. Students meet police officers, fire fighters, paramedics, and other members of our community throughout the year. We also host a community wide Spring Carnival, and a Parking Lot Rummage Sale annually, we take students on monthly visits to local retirement communities, host volunteers from different youth groups, and hold golf tournaments and family movie nights to raise funds instead of the over-done ‘door to door’ chocolate bar scheme.
